Analyzing recordings of four Western and five Indonesian orchestras with respect to tonal systems and timbre features and using self-organizing Kohonen map (SOM) as a machine learning algorithm, a clear clustering between Indonesian and Western ensembles appears using certain psychoacoustic features.
