To this aim, we introduce nonlinear additive and multiplicative preconditioning strategies for the widely used L-BFGS optimizer. The nonlinear preconditioners are constructed by utilizing the Schwarz domain-decomposition framework, where the parameters of the network are decomposed in a layer-wise manner.
