At the antiferromagnetic-superconducting transition, SO(5) symmetry-breaking effects due to the gap are purely quantum mechanical and become irrelevant in the neighborhood of a possible finite-temperature multicritical point separating the normal from the antiferromagnetic and the superconducting phases.
