The individual galaxy spectra show unambiguous detections of interstellar medium (ISM) metal absorption lines from low- and high-ionization states of enriched gas, which we use to probe the ISM gas porosity and kinematics. We find a striking diversity in the absorption profiles. We find low-ionization gas covering fractions ranging from 0.2 to 0.9, indicating a heterogeneous and patchy neutral ISM.
