An exact solution is provided for a two-state system within the elastic freely jointed chain model. This minimal framework contains the smallest set of parameters required to describe such transitions: two Kuhn lengths, two elastic force constants, a free energy difference between both states and a nearest-neighbor interaction energy accounting for cooperativity.
