Two techniques (non-continuous DIC H-DIC and DCPD) have been employed in this aim, leading to similar conclusions. Thus, it is shown that the crack does not remain completely closed during a part of the compressive portion of the fatigue cycle for both applied loadings. The crack opening strains, combined with the cyclic stress-strain curve of the material allowed to determine an equivalent cyclic opening stress.
