In nonlinear PTCs, Kerr saturation dynamically suppresses the exponential growth, reshaping k-gap amplification into an active, spatially homogeneous k gap soliton train. Here, we show that a localized perturbation on this unstable background then nucleates a transient spatiotemporal excitation: the breathing k gap event.
