Let $\\cJ_S$ be a set of $n$ intervals in $\\nR$. We introduce a convex operator $\\co(S,\\cJ_S)$ which generalizes the familiar concepts of the convex hull $\\conv S$ and the affine hull $\\aff S$ of $S$. We establish basic properties of this operator. It is proved that each homothet of $\\conv S$ that is contained in $\\aff S$ can be obtained using this operator. A variety of convex subsets of $\\aff S$ can also be obtained. For example, this operator assigns a regular dodecagon to the 4-element set consisting of the vertices and the o","authors_text":"Branko \\'Curgus, Krzysztof Ko{\\l}odziejczyk","cross_cats":[],"headline":"","license":"","primary_cat":"math.MG","submitted_at":"2006-06-15T17:28:29Z","title":"On a Convex Operator for Finite Sets"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"math/0606371","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:6cdb4293e6d22aa8ca2fe21a74aaa3323958bd6f885786d2ded32faae97fda4e","target":"record","created_at":"2026-05-18T03:53:55Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"0786cd608a75aa6d9f3f901b7b9c3f2fa6033b640d29234d0947a30cd42a290f","cross_cats_sorted":[],"license":"","primary_cat":"math.MG","submitted_at":"2006-06-15T17:28:29Z","title_canon_sha256":"606384a9ce1e4fda9dd8ca92dc3f9213665666e0dade1db5abc7c7e3a40548ca"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"math/0606371","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"db52c7ab77ffef0946d1a03234be38a3a2d2e37416563a68202c1f1b050c8573","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"db52c7ab77ffef0946d1a03234be38a3a2d2e37416563a68202c1f1b050c8573","first_computed_at":"2026-05-18T03:53:55.162953Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-05-18T03:53:55.162953Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"xQKfw3ZRha16HipRjMgQraqgYWFE3p4drKWpPcombw0W0yNMP0oDd8kprJyloLmj3950h6U7h3aL2RSYzStXBg==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-05-18T03:53:55.163479Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"math/0606371","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:6cdb4293e6d22aa8ca2fe21a74aaa3323958bd6f885786d2ded32faae97fda4e","sha256:5bec03172b83f07baaff511a3f5741a3e0dee5541979d3e2c2c16496ceeac3e7"],"state_sha256":"89bf6306a01b6c1aa95efcacc7c436e3ec5b83a71cc924f1b97972d21676233d"}
