This point is critical for the analysis of wave propagation in heterogeneous or layered solids. Various techniques such as Absorbing Boundary Conditions, infinite elements or Absorbing Boundary Layers (e.g. Perfectly Matched Layers) lead to an important reduction of such spurious reflections. In this paper, a simple absorbing layer method is proposed: it is based on a Rayleigh/Caughey damping formulation which is often already available in e","authors_text":"Ali Gandomzadeh (LCPC/MSRGI), Jean-Fran\\c{c}ois Semblat (LCPC/MSRGI), Luca Lenti (LCPC/MSRGI)","cross_cats":["physics.class-ph","physics.geo-ph"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"physics.comp-ph","submitted_at":"2010-09-06T09:36:50Z","title":"A Simple Multi-Directional Absorbing Layer Method to Simulate Elastic Wave Propagation in Unbounded Domains"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"1009.1002","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:2eb9ba4916c2e7d22e940107056f150b602ba35a688b6518fe904b745655e4ea","target":"record","created_at":"2026-05-18T04:41:24Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"4c57dfbf396ec34b822d3853b5730e68e31751cb920e90554e0c0601df3d936c","cross_cats_sorted":["physics.class-ph","physics.geo-ph"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"physics.comp-ph","submitted_at":"2010-09-06T09:36:50Z","title_canon_sha256":"bcf297003490055b620855ee37a5a416ad8d084ac5b8ffbc54927e8dbfbd2935"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"1009.1002","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"db65dd40f2c9b868702521f50f212f540c96714ee80ed9b81ec2069f07aa4876","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"db65dd40f2c9b868702521f50f212f540c96714ee80ed9b81ec2069f07aa4876","first_computed_at":"2026-05-18T04:41:24.202138Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-05-18T04:41:24.202138Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"hI2ieyriJUKmtODhL4HMboznbq84bVPUD6v299bz7Zam7fLPNAFA9h3jLooAL2h8JZ1GCtxsE1B+i85pq4FzAQ==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-05-18T04:41:24.202659Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"1009.1002","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:2eb9ba4916c2e7d22e940107056f150b602ba35a688b6518fe904b745655e4ea","sha256:3df9a118edff6a673c2e282e1ecf695da10a845420497f64bdc4065c0e4a3e76"],"state_sha256":"d2ccc33a0d5519cbf631a1147591659767060d4fac1f975fbac49512d5e34aca"}
