We find that as the baryon chemical potential is increased above a critical value, there is a phase transition to a nuclear matter phase characterized by a condensate of instantons on the probe D-branes in the string theory dual. As a result of electrostatic interactions between the instantons, this condensate expands towards the UV when the chemical potential is increased, giving a holographic version of the expansion of the Fermi surface. We argue based on properties of instantons that the","authors_text":"Hsien-Hang Shieh, Jackson Wu, Mark Van Raamsdonk, Moshe Rozali","cross_cats":["hep-ph","nucl-th"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"hep-th","submitted_at":"2007-08-09T19:58:41Z","title":"Cold Nuclear Matter In Holographic QCD"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"0708.1322","kind":"arxiv","version":4},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:bbd6f01543b6bf6cbe3a361f34a9e35a624fc94469a33fc718a3baeb9e6d3430","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-04T15:30:32Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"47a10d34764fd59d6e7288e39bbd8484f996794d00564b7ada966bcd0007405e","cross_cats_sorted":["hep-ph","nucl-th"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"hep-th","submitted_at":"2007-08-09T19:58:41Z","title_canon_sha256":"dbed5f82e9ae553e9860b103df9816ed6922e0b86e6cb2734cc387e2429660bc"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"0708.1322","kind":"arxiv","version":4}},"canonical_sha256":"f270e8fc8be0b4268610a8256b7f8d53f79f0c39d694c1a318ae29739745bd87","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"f270e8fc8be0b4268610a8256b7f8d53f79f0c39d694c1a318ae29739745bd87","first_computed_at":"2026-07-04T15:30:32.312480Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-04T15:30:32.312480Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"IhAxMZZQ0U6dYDGUeS1VB8eEbwpa5eYRklVzduwHw6IncBsar+ja1xQCf/ziCt9hm4ABBZLCyryitwh0oxW5CQ==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-04T15:30:32.312839Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"0708.1322","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":4}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:bbd6f01543b6bf6cbe3a361f34a9e35a624fc94469a33fc718a3baeb9e6d3430","sha256:a1d59b16fa0c9583a2fbb171fab3b832033765fe5d27373d32399413bbf8f0d4"],"state_sha256":"66ddd48dcc30f766e82a174689a89a5a323274fc9be3ea43655a7c9e0730114a"}
