We consider the intrinsic (Dresselhaus) spin-orbit effective Hamiltonian in the conduction band and compare its effects to the renormalized extrinsic (Rashba) spin-orbit interaction which is analogous to the spin-orbit interaction in the bare hydrogen atom.
