However, finding suitable material candidates has been a significant challenge. Here, we demonstrate that hexagonal aluminum nitride (AlN) monolayers exhibit strong photoluminescence emission within the UV range of 3.94 - 4.05 eV. We show that these emissions in indirect bandgap AlN are facilitated by phonon modes with finite lattice momentum. These phonon modes promote efficient recombination of electrons and holes from the $\\Gamma$ to K point ","authors_text":"Amit Agarwal, Pushpendra Yadav, Sitangshu Bhattacharya","cross_cats":["cond-mat.mtrl-sci"],"headline":"","license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"cond-mat.mes-hall","submitted_at":"2024-09-01T21:48:35Z","title":"Phonon-Assisted Photoluminescence and Exciton Recombination in Monolayer Aluminum Nitride"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2409.00850","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:1a410842c85b64969daabf7dba629750b55e515092ed0aeaa20029f9e13fd121","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T09:01:54Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"f0ab86d0a46464e3737544dc87e2a2f8765a0b8213555024ebb8feb93f26c58f","cross_cats_sorted":["cond-mat.mtrl-sci"],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"cond-mat.mes-hall","submitted_at":"2024-09-01T21:48:35Z","title_canon_sha256":"fba66fe4aa87a204a5a6b3b5ea9710e265089234486f4502caaa6b03fe25951c"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2409.00850","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"08a07076a078e22997e6fc052922bb82cd10e8301e735e0dddb3d22a41884268","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"08a07076a078e22997e6fc052922bb82cd10e8301e735e0dddb3d22a41884268","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T09:01:54.270662Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T09:01:54.270662Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"lyW3R6vromE2hyWldV4K0CFRxFSqJM17+emwEmiA51j0Oy777ZRcpT5epVwFSAEL3/B6FJCniwjJGBma/Dy0AQ==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T09:01:54.271070Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2409.00850","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:1a410842c85b64969daabf7dba629750b55e515092ed0aeaa20029f9e13fd121","sha256:23dfa3c85c9231a92942072e6fe87a0c50b35a236d48c35d3fc6230304ae32ed"],"state_sha256":"a05d56d14b12958f2f2f7035f8eacc838305bdaeb667fcc54629676291a17687"}
