The spontaneous symmetry breaking of the LRM gauge group is triggered by an enlarged Higgs sector, usually consisting of two triplet fields (left-right symmetry breaking) and a bidoublet (electroweak symmetry breaking). I reconsider an alternative LRM with doublet instead of triplet fields.
