We give an independent derivation of the Engle-Pereira-Rovelli spinfoam model for quantum gravity which recently appeared in [arXiv:0705.2388]. Using the coherent state techniques introduced earlier in [arXiv:0705.0674], we show that the EPR model realizes a consistent imposition of the simplicity constraints implementing general relativity from a topological BF theory.

  1. Nontrivial constitutive laws and unified structures in constrained BF theory

    hep-th 2025-04 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Changing the gravitational constitutive law in BF theory does not force any change in the internal gauge-theory constitutive law, because no canonical map connects the two sectors.

  2. Les Houches lectures on Spinfoam Path Integrals

    gr-qc 2026-07 accept novelty 2.0 of 10

A pedagogical review of spinfoam path integrals, from 1d quantum mechanics and 2d BF theory through Ponzano-Regge/Turaev-Viro to the 4d EPRL model, accurate but with no new results.
