abstract

Production of deuterons and antideuterons was studied by the NA49 experiment in the 23.5% most central Pb+Pb collisions at the top SPS energy of $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=17.3 GeV. Invariant yields for $\bar{d}$ and $d$ were measured as a function of centrality in the center-of-mass rapidity range $-1.2<y<-0.6$. Results for $\bar{d}(d)$ together with previously published $\bar{p}(p)$ measurements are discussed in the context of the coalescence model. The coalescence parameters $B_2$ were deduced as a function of transverse momentum $p_t$ and collision centrality.

  1. Toward universal coalescence models for antideuteron production

    hep-ph 2026-03 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Event-by-event coalescence models with a shared scale p_coal ≃ 0.2 GeV (or δ ≃ 1.7 fm) simultaneously fit ALICE pp (anti)deuteron spectra and ALEPH Z-decay antideuteron yields.

  2. Inelastic Antideutron Interaction with Nuclei

    hep-ph 2025-04 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

An intranuclear cascade Monte Carlo generator reproduces measured inelastic antideuteron-nucleus cross sections above roughly 0.65 GeV/c and predicts multiplicities and stripping fractions for ALICE-like detector nuclei.
