abstract

The production cross sections of top-quark pairs in association with massive vector bosons have been measured using data from $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 8 \mathrm{\ Te\kern -0.1em V}$. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $20.3\ \mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected by the ATLAS detector in 2012 at the LHC. Final states with two, three or four leptons are considered. A fit to the data considering the $t\bar{t}W$ and $t\bar{t}Z$ processes simultaneously yields a significance of $5.0\sigma$ ($4.2\sigma$) over the background-only hypothesis for $t\bar{t}W$ ($t\bar{t}Z$) production. The measured cross sections are $\sigma_{t\bar{t}W} = 369^{+100}_{-91}$ fb and $\sigma_{t\bar{t}Z} = 176^{+58}_{-52}$ fb. The background-only hypothesis with neither $t\bar{t}W$ nor $t\bar{t}Z$ production is excluded at $7.1\sigma$. All measurements are consistent with next-to-leading-order calculations for the $t\bar{t}W$ and $t\bar{t}Z$ processes.

  1. A search for electroweak $t\bar{t}Wj$ production in multileptonic final states at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV with the ATLAS detector and bounds on effective field theory operators

    hep-ex 2025-09 accept novelty 7.0 of 10

First search for electroweak ttWj production at 13 TeV sets observed (expected) 95% CL upper limits of 251 fb (230 fb) versus the SM prediction of 47.7 fb and constrains the O_Ht and O_HQ^(1) EFT operators.

  2. Two-loop Feynman integrals for leading colour $t\bar{t}W$ production at hadron colliders

    hep-ph 2025-04 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A complete set of two-loop master integrals for leading-colour ttW production is reduced to differential equations that are at most quadratic in the dimensional regulator and evaluated numerically in the physical region.

  3. Renormalisation group evolution effects on global SMEFT analyses

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Including RGE effects in a global SMEFT fit improves bounds on poorly constrained four-quark operators but weakens limits on modified Z q qbar couplings by up to a factor of ten.
