We introduce the AdS/CFT correspondence as a natural extension of QFT in a fixed AdS background. We start by reviewing some general concepts of CFT, including the embedding space formalism. We then consider QFT in a fixed AdS background and show that one can define boundary operators that enjoy very similar properties as in a CFT, except for the lack of a stress tensor. Including a dynamical metric in AdS generates a boundary stress tensor and completes the CFT axioms. We also discuss some applications of the bulk geometric intuition to strongly coupled QFT. Finally, we end with a review of the main properties of Mellin amplitudes for CFT correlation functions and their uses in the context of AdS/CFT.

  1. Extremal couplings, graviton exchange, and gluon scattering in AdS

    hep-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

Extremal bulk couplings between graviton and gluon modes are computed in F-theory AdS/CFT, yielding the graviton exchange term and a complete 1/N² correlator for the D4 theory.

  2. Relational path integral, effective actions and quantum frame covariance in gravity

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The gravitational path integral is reformulated with dynamical reference frames, producing gauge-invariant correlators, frame-dependent vacua, and effective actions, with sharpness of events becoming frame-relative.

  3. On bulk reconstruction in Lorentzian AdS and its flat space limit

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Constructs bulk scalar field representations in Lorentzian AdS4 from boundary primaries via time-ordered propagators and derives their flat-space limits to plane-wave or Carrollian bases.
