The thermodynamics of the Taub-NUT solution has been predominantly studied in the Euclidean sector, upon imposing the condition for the absence of Misner strings. Such thermodynamics is quite exceptional: the periodicity of the Euclidean time is restricted and thence the NUT charge cannot be independently varied, the entropy is not equal to a quarter of the area, and the thermodynamic volume can be negative. In this paper we revisit this paradigm and study the thermodynamics of the Lorentzian Taub-NUT solution, maintaining (as recently shown relatively harmless) Misner strings. We argue that in order to formulate a full cohomogeneity first law where the NUT parameter can be independently varied, it is natural to introduce a new charge together with its conjugate quantity. We consider two scenarios: one in which the entropy is given by the Lorentzian version of the Noether charge, the other in which the entropy is given by the standard Bekenstein--Hawking area law. In both cases consistent thermodynamics with positive thermodynamic volume can be formulated.

  1. Memory effect from the scattering of Taub-NUT black holes

    hep-th 2026-03 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Soft theorems yield a gauge-invariant nutty soft factor and the associated memory tensor for Kerr-Taub-NUT scattering, with magnetic components and directional divergences absent in electromagnetism.

  2. Charged Taub-NUT type Black Holes in Einstein-Weyl-Maxwell Theory

    gr-qc 2025-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Charged Taub-NUT black holes in Einstein-Weyl-Maxwell theory are numerically built and show three disconnected solution branches, unlike their intersecting neutral counterparts.

  3. The Komar charge in presence of the Holst term and the gravitational Witten effect

    hep-th 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The Holst term shifts the Komar mass of Taub-NUT space by -αN, giving a gravitational analog of the Witten effect.

  4. A note on the calculation of the Komar integral in the Lorentzian Taub-NUT spacetime

    gr-qc 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

In the stringless Taub-NUT spacetime, Misner-string singularities reappear on every spacelike hypersurface used in Komar integrals, restoring the Smarr formula only when included and making charges hypersurface-dependent.

  5. Taub-NUT-like Black Holes in Einstein-Bumblebee Gravity

    gr-qc 2025-05 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A new Taub-NUT-like black hole solution in Einstein-Bumblebee gravity is constructed, and its thermodynamics is shown to obey the first law and the Smarr relation.
