abstract

We report on the first fully differential calculation of the next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) QCD radiative corrections to the production of bottom-quark pairs at hadron colliders. The calculation is performed by using the $q_T$ subtraction formalism to handle and cancel infrared singularities in real and virtual contributions. The computation is implemented in the Matrix framework, thereby allowing us to efficiently compute arbitrary infrared-safe observables in the four-flavour scheme. We present selected predictions for bottom-quark production at the Tevatron and at the LHC at different collider energies, and we perform some comparisons with available experimental results. We find that the NNLO corrections are sizeable, typically of the order of $25$-$35\%$, and they lead to a significant reduction of the perturbative uncertainties. Therefore, their inclusion is crucial for an accurate theoretical description of this process.

  1. Towards NNLO QCD predictions for off-shell top-quark pair production and decays

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

The first NNLO QCD prediction for off-shell W+W-bbbar production with massive bottom quarks at the LHC, using a double-pole approximation for the two-loop virtual and an on-shell matching for non-factorisable corrections.

  2. Dissecting Exclusive Multijet Cross Sections

    hep-ph 2025-09 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A general leading-power factorization framework for exclusive multijet resolution variables, with a new rapidity regulator and an all-order factorizing k_T-ness variable.

  3. Testing perturbative QCD calculations with beauty-meson production in proton-proton collisions with ALICE

    hep-ex 2025-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The B0 production cross section in pp collisions at 13.6 TeV is measured at midrapidity down to pT = 1 GeV/c and agrees with pQCD calculations within uncertainties.

  4. Triple real-emission contribution to the zero-jettiness soft function at N3LO in QCD

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The paper provides the technical derivation and cross-checks of the triple-real-emission piece of the N3LO zero-jettiness soft function, confirming the result announced in arXiv:2409.11042.

  5. Bridging massive and massless schemes for soft gluon resummation in heavy-flavour production in $e^+e^-$ collisions

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The paper computes the O(alpha_s) soft-limit constants that interpolate between massive and massless scheme resummations, raising the accuracy of heavy-flavour fragmentation predictions from NLL to NLL'.

  6. Mixed QCD-EW corrections to the neutral-current Drell-Yan process

    hep-ph 2024-12 accept novelty 5.0 of 10

Exact mixed QCD-EW corrections at order alpha_s alpha to neutral-current Drell-Yan production are computed and applied to distributions, the forward-backward asymmetry, and dressed leptons.
