We study the important, yet widely overlooked, role of gluons for spin transport with a connection to local parity violation in quark gluon plasmas. We employ the formalism of quantum kinetic theory to quarks in weakly coupled quantum chromodynamics to derive the source terms for quark spin polarization. These source terms involve parity-odd correlators of dynamically generated color fields in near-equilibrium quark gluon plasmas and give rise to locally fluctuating axial charge currents. Our results provide a possible explanation for the spin alignment of vector mesons measured in high-energy nuclear collisions.

  1. Covariant equations of motion of massive spinning particles in a background Yang-Mills field

    nucl-th 2025-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A spinning quark in a background Yang-Mills field obeys a new, constraint-preserving, gauge-invariant set of classical equations of motion that reduce to the Wong equations when spin effects are turned off.

  2. Is the shear induced spin polarization non-dissipative?

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Shear-induced spin polarization leaves the momentum-integrated entropy production rate unchanged in chiral kinetic theory, but Zubarev's linear response suggests a dissipative origin.

  3. Experimental Search for the Chiral Magnetic Effect in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions: A Perspective

    nucl-ex 2025-02 conditional novelty 3.0 of 10

The chiral magnetic effect in heavy-ion collisions remains unconfirmed, with current data giving a 2.9-sigma hint in Au+Au and an upper limit near 10% in isobar collisions.
