In any consistent effective field theory of quantum gravity limits of infinite field distance are expected to lead to the EFT breakdown due to the appearance of an infinite tower of light states, as predicted by the Distance Conjecture. We review the Distant Axionic String Conjecture, which proposes that any 4d EFT infinite-field-distance limit can be realized as an RG flow of a fundamental axionic string. The RG flow can be understood in terms of the 4d backreaction of such a string, and implies that it becomes tensionless towards the said limit. This property is understood as a shielding mechanism towards realizing an exact axionic symmetry, and it implies the breakdown of the EFT in a way that reproduces the Distance Conjecture. Motivated by string theory data we further propose the Integral Scaling Conjecture, which provides a specific relation between the string tension and the EFT maximal cut-off set by the infinite tower of states.

Integral Scaling for EFT Strings from the Bottom-Up
Under brane-taxonomy axioms and an n_e≤7 homogeneity bound, integral scaling with w≤3 is an exhaustive finite consequence for all EFT string candidates in 4d N=1 moduli slices.

EFT (String) Tower Building
Assuming the Integral Scaling Relation and the Emergent String Conjecture, the Kähler potential fixes the UV tower spectrum, and every admissible degree-≤7 tower polytope is a slice of the M-theory G2 polytope.

Co-Scaling and Alignment of Electric and Magnetic Towers
Electric and magnetic BPS towers in 5d supergravity are conjectured to co-scale and align, and a new S-map is conjectured to characterize the magnetic infinity cone of a Calabi-Yau threefold.

Non-invertible symmetries in the axiverse, and the imaginary wormholes
Imaginary wormholes and the IDB imply that towers of BPS EFT instantons generate infinitely many superpotential terms that break non-invertible axion shift symmetries in N=1 axiverse models.
