This paper characterizes the actual science performance of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), as determined from the six month commissioning period. We summarize the performance of the spacecraft, telescope, science instruments, and ground system, with an emphasis on differences from pre-launch expectations. Commissioning has made clear that JWST is fully capable of achieving the discoveries for which it was built. Moreover, almost across the board, the science performance of JWST is better than expected; in most cases, JWST will go deeper faster than expected. The telescope and instrument suite have demonstrated the sensitivity, stability, image quality, and spectral range that are necessary to transform our understanding of the cosmos through observations spanning from near-earth asteroids to the most distant galaxies.

Triple radio flares from tidal disruption events: jet-wind collisions and the discovery of a third radio flare from AT2020vwl
astro-ph.HE 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10
The TDE AT2020vwl showed a third radio flare at the time a jet-wind collision was predicted from its first two flares, the first predicted-and-confirmed third flare.

JWST Spectroscopy of SN Ia 2022aaiq and 2024gy: Evidence for Enhanced Central Stable Ni Abundance and a Deflagration-to-Detonation Transition
astro-ph.HE 2025-10 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10
A JWST study of two Type Ia supernovae finds central stable-nickel enhancements and broken-slope [Ni III] lines, favoring near-Chandrasekhar-mass delayed-detonation explosions.

Highly reflective white clouds on the western dayside of an exo-Neptune
astro-ph.EP 2025-01 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10
Phase-resolved JWST spectroscopy of LTT 9779b reveals a 3.1 sigma east-west albedo asymmetry, with reflective silicate clouds on the western dayside and a symmetric thermal phase curve.

ATLAS. II. Extremely High Incidence of Balmer Line Absorption with Predominant Blueshifts in LRDs: Statistical Insights through Comparison with Type 1 AGNs
astro-ph.GA 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10
Balmer-line absorption occurs in ~35% (14/40) of JWST little-red-dot AGNs, roughly 850x the rate in SDSS type-1 AGNs, with mostly slow blueshifted absorber velocities.

Exoplanet Atmospheric Refraction Effects in the Kepler Sample
astro-ph.EP 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10
Stacking Kepler photometry reveals a ~2 ppm out-of-transit refraction signal for planets above the period-radius valley, implying heavier mean molecular weight atmospheres than expected for clear H/He envelopes.
