The electroweak sphaleron process breaks the baryon number conservation within the realms of the Standard Model of particle physics (SM). Recently, it is pointed out that its decoupling may provide the out-of-equilibrium condition required for baryogenesis. In this paper, we study such a scenario taking into account the baryon-number wash-out effect of the sphaleron itself to improve the estimate. We clarify the amount of CP violation required for this scenario to explain the observed asymmetry.

An Effective Sphaleron Awakens
A consistent 3D EFT computation of the Higgs phase sphaleron rate yields universal baryon preservation bounds x ≈ 0.025 (strong) and x ≈ 0.036 (weak), and shows two-loop corrections eliminate strong one-step transitio...

Impact of dimension-8 SMEFT operators on baryogenesis via sphaleron decoupling
Five of seven CP-violating dimension-8 SMEFT operators can individually reproduce the observed baryon asymmetry, with effective new-physics scales near 3-7 TeV.

Electroweak Baryogenesis: Advances in Sphaleron Rate Calculations and Implications of Thermal Phase Transitions
Sphaleron rates can be computed gauge-invariantly in 3D thermal EFT, yielding a new baryon-washout criterion x = lambda3/g3^2 that replaces v_c/T_c > 1 for electroweak baryogenesis.
