The Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model and specifically its extension to color superconductivity (CSC) is a popular effective model for investigating dense quark matter. However, the reliability of its results is challenged by cutoff artifacts, which emerge if temperature or chemical potential are of the order of the cutoff energy scales. In this work, we generalize an idea from [Braun et al. SciPost Phys., 6:056, 2019], which is based on the requirement of renormalization-group (RG) consistency and has successfully been applied to the two-flavor Quark-Meson-Diquark model, to the NJL model for electrically and color-neutral three-flavor color-superconducting quark matter. To this end, we analyze the medium divergences of the model and eliminate them by appropriate counterterms, introducing three different schemes. We show that the RG-consistent treatment removes the cutoff artifacts of the conventional regularization and enables the investigation of CSC matter at higher densities by the model. Our studies reveal the emergence of a so-called d-quark superconducting (dSC) phase within the melting pattern of the Color-Flavor Locked (CFL) phase at high chemical potentials, consistent with earlier Ginzburg-Landau analyses.

  1. Neutrino absorption in two-flavor color-superconducting quark matter

    nucl-th 2025-09 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

In 2SC quark matter, neutrino absorption is dominated by strange-quark capture at low temperature, and a degenerate neutrino gas at electron lepton fraction 0.1 has a mean free path of meters or less.

  2. The petit four of color-superconducting phases in proto-neutron star evolution

    nucl-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Along constant-baryon-number cooling tracks, color-superconducting cores in proto-neutron stars follow four scenarios, with stable cold CSC only in a narrow high-mass band for the chosen EoS.

  3. Speed of sound peak in two-color dense QCD: confronting effective models with lattice data

    hep-ph 2025-10 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A medium-separated NJL model reproduces the lattice-observed peak in the speed of sound for two-color dense QCD, where conventional cutoff regularization fails.

  4. Renormalizing the Quark-Meson-Diquark Model

    hep-ph 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Renormalized and two RG-consistent versions of the Quark-Meson-Diquark model reproduce the BCS relation and Stefan-Boltzmann limit at high density, while the sigma-delta scheme violates the BCS relation.

  5. Origin of nucleon mass in the light of PSR J0614-3329 with quark-hadron crossover

    nucl-th 2025-09 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

The parity doublet model combined with the new NICER radius measurement restricts the chiral invariant nucleon mass m0 to 800-860 MeV, implying it is at least 85% of the nucleon mass.

  6. Dense and Cold Magnetized Quark Matter: A Review of Magnetic-Field-Independent Regularization and the Medium Separation Scheme

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 3.5 of 10

Review of MFIR and MSS schemes showing the superconducting gap stays finite at high chemical potential in magnetized cold quark matter with no zero-temperature transition to normal phase.
