A uniform construction of non-supersymmetric 0-, 4-, 6- and 7-branes in heterotic string theory was announced and outlined in our letter \cite{Kaidi:2023tqo}. In this full paper, we provide details on their properties. Among other things, we discuss the charges carried by the branes, their topological and dynamical stability, the exact worldsheet descriptions of their near-horizon regions, and the relationship of the branes to the mathematical notion of topological modular forms.

  1. The absence of global anomalies of CP symmetry

    hep-ph 2026-02 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Gauged CP symmetry in four dimensions introduces no new global anomalies for connected, simply-connected gauge groups; the standard model matter content is anomaly-free under a gauged CP.

  2. Cobordism Utopia: U-Dualities, Bordisms, and the Swampland

    hep-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

For 8d maximal supergravity, the spin bordism groups Omega_k^Spin(B(SL(2,Z) x SL(3,Z))) for k=1..7 are computed and each generator is realized by a string/M/F-theory background, some of which are non-geometric.

  3. A Matrix Theory Construction of the IIA/IIB Wall

    hep-th 2026-03 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A lightlike IIA/IIB domain wall is constructed at zero string coupling by gauging (−1)^{F_L} in matrix string theory, turning BPS IIA D0-branes into non-BPS IIB D0-branes.

  4. Gravitational Background of Alice-Vortices and R7-Branes

    hep-th 2026-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A family of asymptotic Alice-vortex/R7-brane backgrounds in axio-dilaton gravity is constructed, with the vortex tension encoded in a conical deficit and a generic intrinsic dipole moment.
