Searches for axion-like particles (ALPs) are motivated by the strong CP problem in particle physics and by unexplained dark matter in astrophysics. In this letter, we discuss novel ALP searches using monoenergetic nuclear de-excitation photons from a beam dump, using IsoDAR as an example. We show that IsoDAR can set limits that close a gap in traditional QCD axion searches using the ALP-photon coupling, as well as provide sensitivity to large regions of new parameter space in models where ALPs couple to nucleons and electrons. We also show how isotope decay-at-rest experiments may be designed to improve potential ALP production and optimize detection sensitivity.

  1. MeV Electrophilic Axion-like Particles from Sun

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

MeV axion-like particles could be made when 5.5 MeV solar fusion photons Compton-scatter off electrons; current LZ, PandaX-4T and Borexino data would then constrain g_ae to (1.7-3.7)e-6 in the 0.4-1 MeV window.

  2. Constraints on millicharged particles from nuclear gamma-decays

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Nuclear gamma cascades in reactors produce millicharged particle pairs, giving the strongest constraints on millicharge for masses between 0.7 and 2 MeV.

  3. Blazar Boosted ALP and vector portal Dark matter confronting light mediator searches

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

Blazar-boosted dark matter scattering in Super-Kamiokande can exclude previously unconstrained parameter space for ALP- and vector-mediated sub-MeV dark matter, beating BaBar, NA64, beam dump, and stellar cooling limi...

  4. New Physics Opportunities at Neutrino Facilities: BSM Physics at Accelerator, Atmospheric, and Reactor Neutrino Experiments

    hep-ph 2025-06 unverdicted novelty 1.0 of 10

A workshop-based review maps beyond-Standard-Model discovery opportunities at accelerator, reactor, atmospheric, and cosmic neutrino facilities, with emphasis on East Asian programs.
