abstract

In this paper, we explore the interactions between light axion-like particles (ALPs) and top quarks, gluons, and W-bosons. Utilizing high-energy probes at the LHC, we probe these couplings in the context of single top quark production associated with a W-boson and an ALP. We analyze the latest LHC Run II data on $t\bar{t}$ spin correlation measurements to establish constraints on these couplings. Additionally, we compare these constraints with those derived from loop-induced couplings and indirect searches involving B-meson decays. Furthermore, we derive two-dimensional limits on the ALP couplings with top quarks and gluons.

  1. ALP pair production at the LHC

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Non-resonant gg→aa→4γ production could constrain the dimension-6 ALP-gluon coupling down to ~10^-3 TeV^-2 at 300 fb^-1, but the allowed parameter space remains unbounded along multiple flat directions.

  2. Constraining ALP-Top Interaction from the Chromoelectric Dipole Moment of the Top Quark

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The paper derives the one- and two-loop top quark CEDM induced by a CP-violating ALP at q^2 = m_t^2 and uses it to set new bounds on the ALP-top coupling, with the neutron EDM giving the strongest of the three new limits.

  3. Concurrent Exploration of Axion-Like Particle Interactions with Gauge Bosons at the LHC

    hep-ph 2025-05 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Expected and observed 95% CL limits on the ALP couplings to gluons and W bosons are derived for a 1 MeV ALP, from simulated ZZa/WWa events at the HL-LHC and from recast CMS Z+jets and W+jets measurements.

  4. Axions and Axion-like particles: collider searches

    hep-ph 2025-08 accept

A pedagogical review of the ALP effective field theory, production and decay at colliders, indirect search strategies, and a summary of current bounds on the ALP-photon coupling.
