Supersymmetry plays prominent roles in the study of quantum field theory and in many proposals for potential new physics beyond the standard model. Lattice field theory provides a non-perturbative regularization suitable for strongly interacting systems. This invited review briefly summarizes significant recent progress in lattice investigations of supersymmetric field theories, as well as some of the challenges that remain to be overcome. I focus on progress in three areas: supersymmetric Yang--Mills (SYM) theories in fewer than four space-time dimensions, as well as both minimal N=1 SYM and maximal N=4 SYM in four dimensions. I also highlight superQCD and sign problems as prominent challenges that will be important to address in future work.

  1. The mass of the gluino-glue bound state in large-$N$ $\mathcal{N}=1$ Supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory

    hep-lat 2024-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

A first-principles lattice calculation determines the mass of the gluino-glue bound state in N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in the large-N limit.

  2. Finite-temperature phase diagram of the BMN matrix model on the lattice

    hep-lat 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Non-perturbative lattice calculations determine the BMN deconfinement temperature from the perturbative to the holographic regime, with evidence that the transition becomes continuous at weak coupling.

  3. Towards quantum simulation of lower-dimensional supersymmetric lattice models

    hep-lat 2024-11 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

VQE simulations of 0+1 dimensional supersymmetric quantum mechanics show that shot noise can mimic spontaneous supersymmetry breaking, and that a general-purpose ansatz fails for larger bosonic truncations.

  4. From One to Eight: Supersymmetry Restoration in Lattice 3D ${\cal N} = 4$ Super Yang--Mills

    hep-lat 2026-08 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

The seven broken twisted supercharges are conjugates of the exact scalar supercharge by discrete automorphisms, so restoring the automorphism structure should restore full N=4 supersymmetry automatically.

  5. The gluino condensate of large-$N$ SUSY Yang-Mills

    hep-lat 2024-12 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

The large-N SUSY gluino condensate is computed on the lattice for the first time and agrees, within errors, with the weak-coupling instanton value.
