Picking up the threads on a recent proposal [arXiv:1903.08668], we show how to formulate consistent thermodynamics of Lorentzian Taub-NUT spacetimes in the presence of electric and magnetic charges. Namely, with an entropy identified with a quarter of the horizon area and no Misner time periodicity condition imposed, we show that a new pair of conjugate quantities can be introduced so that the NUT parameter can be independently varied and the corresponding first law and Smarr relation can be consistently formulated. Moreover, we show that (contrary to the statements in the literature) the electric and magnetic parameters need not be proportional to one another and a full cohomogeneity first law including variations of both charges can be written down, provided one charge is considered on the horizon and the other at infinity. The corresponding phase transitions are also briefly discussed.

  1. Multihair thermodynamics of Kerr-Newman-NUT-AdS$_4$ spacetimes

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Derives a Christodoulou-Ruffini-type squared-mass formula for Kerr-Newman-NUT-AdS4 using secondary NUT hairs J_n and N, then verifies the first law and Smarr relation by differentiation.

  2. Charged nutty black holes are hairy

    gr-qc 2026-02 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Misner strings accompanying charged nutty black holes carry effective electric and magnetic charges via singular field flows with nonzero divergence, creating observable short-range electromagnetic hair.

  3. Holographic complexity of charged Taub-NUT-AdS black holes

    hep-th 2019-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

For charged Taub-NUT-AdS black holes, the late-time holographic complexity growth rate includes Misner string thermodynamic terms and the total electric charge, and adding a Maxwell boundary term with gamma=1/2 restor...

  4. Kerr-NUT Thermodynamics: Misner Strings and Nut Charges

    gr-qc 2026-08 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A conserved charge built from the nut parameter and the Misner string parameter completes the first law of Kerr-NUT thermodynamics.

  5. The first law of black hole thermodynamics for Taub-NUT spacetime

    gr-qc 2019-08 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

The NUT parameter n is reinterpreted as producing rotation along Misner strings, giving a modified first law dM = T d(A/4G) + (1/n)d(Mn) - (1/(2n))d(nr+/G) for Lorentzian Taub-NUT spacetime.
