abstract

We calculate the renormalisation group running of the bosonic Standard Model (SM) effective operators at one loop and to order $v^4/\Lambda^4$, with $v\sim 246$ GeV being the electroweak scale and $\Lambda$ the unknown new physics threshold. We focus on contributions driven by one dimension-eight term and SM couplings, thus extending (and completing) the effort initiated in arXiv:2106.05291, in which quantum corrections from pairs of dimension-six interactions were considered. We highlight some interesting consequences, including the renormalisation of loop-induced interactions by tree-level generated terms and, more importantly, the validity of positivity bounds on different operators inducing anomalous gauge quartic couplings.

  1. Renormalization of general Effective Field Theories: Formalism and renormalization of bosonic operators

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The authors compute, for the first time, the one-loop renormalization group equations of the bosonic operators of a completely general EFT up to mass dimension 6.

  2. Renormalization-group equations of the LEFT at two loops: dimension-five effects

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The complete two-loop renormalization-group equations for the dimension-five LEFT sector, derived in a chirally symmetric scheme, with two methods that avoid gauge-variant nuisance operators.

  3. A Guide to Functional Methods Beyond One-Loop Order

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Functional methods are generalized to two-loop EFT matching and running with manifest gauge covariance, and the hard-region matching formula is proven to all loop orders.

  4. Electroweak Scalar Effects Beyond Dimension-6 in SMEFT

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

One-loop dimension-eight SMEFT matching is derived for complex triplet and two-Higgs-doublet scalar extensions, and the dimension-eight terms are shown to matter for GigaZ electroweak precision projections.
