abstract

The evolution of spherically symmetric unstable scalar field configurations (``bubbles'') is examined for both symmetric (SDWP) and asymmetric (ADWP) double-well potentials. Bubbles with initial static energies $E_0\la E_{{\rm crit}}$, where $E_{{\rm crit}}$ is some critical value, shrink in a time scale determined by their linear dimension, or ``radius''. Bubbles with $E_0\ga E_{{\rm crit}}$ evolve into time-dependent, localized configurations which are {\it very} long-lived compared to characteristic time-scales in the models examined. The stability of these configurations is investigated and possible applications are briefly discussed.tic time-scales in the models examined. Reviewed papers in the Pith corpus that reference this work. Sorted by Pith novelty score. Full citation record

  1. Dynamics of nucleation in thermal phase transitions

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The thermal nucleation rate is the transition-state estimate multiplied by one minus the re-crossing probability, and oscillons make that correction large.

  2. CosmoLattice 2.0

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

CosmoLattice v2.0 extends lattice cosmology simulations with non-minimal scalars, ALP–gauge couplings, defect networks, low-storage RK integrators, optimized GWs, and O(10) GPU speedups.

  3. Standard Model Effective Field Theory and Oscillons

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The SMEFT operator O6=(Φ†Φ)³ extends SU(2) electroweak oscillon lifetimes by orders of magnitude at the physical mH/mW=1.556 for couplings below current bounds.

  4. Unified theory of oscillons and modes

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Oscillons are reinterpreted as localized resonant modes from threshold or antibound modes via nonlinearity, with wobblerons as new kink-oscillon bound states.

  5. Sign-Flipping Axion Potentials via Kapitza-Type Modulation by Heavy Axions

    hep-ph 2025-09 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

Coherent oscillations of a heavy axion change the sign of a light axion's effective potential, trapping it in a false vacuum and boosting its dark matter abundance.

  6. Oscillons and bubbles in $Q$-ball dynamics

    hep-th 2025-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

In the thin-wall regime, Q-ball-anti-Q-ball collisions are chaotic, driven by internal bound modes and ephemeral states, with false-vacuum bubbles stabilized by Goldstone modes as key intermediates.

  7. PQ-ball and its Real Scalar Analogue in an Expanding Universe

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

3+1D lattice simulations show PQ-balls form from a rotating complex scalar and decay faster for stronger symmetry breaking, with lifetimes roughly scaling as v^4.

  8. Gravitational waves from oscillons in a generalized exponential plateau potential

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 reject novelty 5.0 of 10

Oscillons in a generalized exponential plateau inflaton potential produce a GHz gravitational-wave background, but the claimed BBN constraint on the model parameter β_pot is not supported because the computed signal i...

  9. The art of simulating the early Universe. Part III: Scalar-Gauge-Fluid Dynamics

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 accept novelty 5.0 of 10

Detailed continuum-to-lattice schemes are given for perfect/imperfect fluids alone or coupled to scalars/gauges in FLRW, enabling self-consistent CosmoLattice simulations of early-Universe plasma dynamics and GWs.
