We propose an experimental scheme to observe the Gibbons-Hawking effect in the acoustic analog of a 1+1-dimensional de Sitter universe, produced in an expanding, cigar-shaped Bose-Einstein condensate. It is shown that a two-level system created at the center of the trap, an atomic quantum dot interacting with phonons, observes a thermal Bose distribution at the de Sitter temperature.

  1. Laboratory rivers extremize friction and are cosmological analogues

    physics.geo-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

River cross-sectional profiles satisfy the Friedmann equation for an Anti-de Sitter universe; the associated action extremizes friction and dissipation, and the extremum is a maximum by second variation analysis.

  2. Probing Unruh Effect from Enhanced Decoherence

    gr-qc 2026-03 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Decoherence rate of an Unruh-DeWitt detector scales as a^{2Δ-1} in the long-time limit, increasing with the scaling dimension Δ of the coupled field and offering a more sensitive probe of the Unruh effect.

    gr-qc 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Derives shadow width, redshift asymmetry, and flux observables for the Lorentz-violating draining-bathtub acoustic black hole, showing how each observable isolates different combinations of the rotation and violation ...

    hep-th 2025-12 conditional novelty 4.0

For a Schwarzschild-surrounded acoustic black hole, phonon entanglement entropy follows a Page curve in the non-extremal case but diverges (no Page time) in the extremal case, according to the island formula.
