abstract

An axion dark matter search with the CAPP-8TB haloscope is reported. Our results are sensitive to axion-photon coupling $g_{a\gamma\gamma}$ down to the QCD axion band over the axion mass range between 6.62 and 6.82 $\mu$eV at a 90\% confidence level, which is the most sensitive result in the mass range to date.

  1. Axiverse Lampposts

    hep-ph 2026-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

In a hierarchical multi-axion theory with random couplings, axion field ranges shrink with 1/sqrt(N), generic axion–SM couplings are suppressed, but the QCD axion's coupling is unsuppressed.

  2. Probing the axion-electron coupling at cavity experiments

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Cavity walls radiate microwave photons when axion dark matter generates a chiral magnetic current at the conductor surface, turning existing haloscope data into a bound on the axion-electron coupling g_ae ≲ 10^-5.

  3. Dark Matter Nuclear Magnetic Resonance is Sensitive to Dark Photons and the Axion-Photon Coupling

    hep-ph 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

CASPEr-Gradient, an NMR axion search, could simultaneously probe dark photon kinetic mixing to about 3e-16 and axion-photon coupling to about 2e-16 GeV^-1 near a mass of 1 micro-eV.

  4. Axion misalignment with memory-burdened PBH

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Axion dark matter parameter space shifts dramatically when kinetic misalignment and memory-burdened primordial black hole evaporation are combined.

  5. Impact of First-order Electroweak Phase Transition on QCD Axion

    hep-ph 2025-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A temporary axion mass spike during a first-order electroweak phase transition can make the QCD axion dark matter over a wide range of decay constants without a tuned initial angle.

  6. Dark matter from axion and small neutrino mass

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A KSVZ-like model with a fermion dark matter candidate produced by UV freeze-in through the axion portal is shown to have viable parameter space at TeV mass and axion decay constant near 10^10 to 10^11 GeV.

  7. Axion-like Particle Conversion in the Solar Magnetic Field

    hep-ph 2025-01 unverdicted

A proceedings review that restates the ALP-photon conversion forecasts and NuSTAR limits from two previous papers, with no new results.
