When the neutral current neutrino-neutrino interaction is treated completely, rather than as an interaction among angle-averaged distributions, or as a set of flavor-diagonal effective potentials, the result can be flavor mixing at a speed orders of magnitude faster than that one would anticipate from the measured neutrino oscillation parameters. It is possible that the energy spectra of the three active species of neutrinos emerging from a supernova are nearly identical.

  1. Neutrino-antineutrino superfluidity

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

Pairing instabilities in neutrino plasmas arise only with occupation number discontinuities and are spurious artifacts of energy discretization that disappear in the continuum.

  2. Solar-System Abundances of $p$-Nuclides Probe Collective Neutrino Oscillations in Supernovae

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Nearby neutrino flavor conversion in a supernova can boost νp-process yields of p-nuclides like 92Mo and 92Nb by up to two orders of magnitude, matching solar abundances when conversion starts within ~10 km of the pro...

  3. Bifurcated Impact of Neutrino Fast Flavor Conversion on Core-collapse Supernovae Informed by Multi-angle Neutrino Radiation Hydrodynamics

    astro-ph.HE 2026-01 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Fast flavor conversion of neutrinos bifurcates supernova explosion outcomes: it aids shock revival in low-mass progenitors but inhibits it in higher-mass ones, controlled by mass accretion rate.

  4. Electron-neutrino lepton number crossings: Variations with the supernova core physics

    astro-ph.HE 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

In a suite of 12 supernova models, electron-neutrino lepton number crossings appear at larger radii when proto-neutron star convection is included and at smaller radii when muon production is included.

  5. Comparative Testing of Subgrid Models for Fast Neutrino Flavor Conversions in Core-collapse Supernova Simulations

    astro-ph.HE 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A 1D supernova simulation with four-species BGK subgrid modeling shows that three-species assumptions overestimate flavor conversion and that semi-implicit time integration is the most reliable.

  6. Pauli blocking: probing beyond-mean-field effects in neutrino flavor evolution

    astro-ph.HE 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Adding heuristic Pauli-blocking factors to neutrino self-interactions shifts fast flavor stability regions: two instabilities weaken, and one stable case becomes unstable.

  7. Neutrino oscillations in a neutrino-dominated accretion disk around a Kerr BH

    astro-ph.HE 2019-09 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Neutrino self-interactions inside neutrino-cooled accretion disks are argued to push flavors toward equipartition, reducing the neutrino-antineutrino annihilation energy deposition around black holes by a factor up to...

  8. Quantum break in models of axion dark matter

    hep-ph 2019-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A modified mean-field analysis predicts that axion dark matter can undergo a quantum break into photon pairs, with multi-mode synchronization counteracting red-shift detuning.

  9. Flavor Conversion Enhances or Suppresses Supernova Explodability Independent of the Progenitor Mass

    astro-ph.HE 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Neutrino flavor conversion in supernova cores can enhance or suppress explodability depending on the conversion location, independent of progenitor mass.

  10. Neutrino Flavor Conversion Shapes the Rate of Failed Core-collapse Supernovae

    astro-ph.HE 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Simulations of 195 stellar progenitors indicate that neutrino flavor conversion alters explodability and remnant mass distributions, particularly for stars of 16-30 solar masses.
