It is widely believed that hadronisation leads to 1/Q corrections to e+e- event shapes. We show that there are further corrections, proportional to (ln Q)^A/Q with A=4C_A/beta_0~=1.6, associated with hadron masses and whose relative normalisations can be calculated from one observable to another. At today's energies these extra corrections can be of the same order of magnitude as `traditional' 1/Q corrections. They fall into two classes: universal and non-universal. The latter can be eliminated by suitable redefinitions of the observables.

  1. Precision $e^+e^-$ Hemisphere Masses in the Dijet Region with Power Corrections

    hep-ph 2025-06 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

N3LL' resummation for heavy jet and dihemisphere masses in the dijet region, with a new claim that heavy jet mass moments require an extra non-perturbative parameter at order 1/Q.

  2. Heavy Jet Mass in Hadronic Higgs Decays

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Heavy jet mass in hadronic Higgs decays is predicted at N³LL′ (dijet) plus NNLL (Sudakov shoulder) plus NNLO, with new analytic trijet-region logarithms for H→gg and H→q̄q.

  3. Studying the Infrared Behaviour of Improved Logarithmic Accuracy Parton Showers with Herwig

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Implementing improved logarithmic accuracy parton showers in Herwig reveals that differences in infrared cutoffs have important effects on hadron-level predictions and tunability.

  4. Fits of $\alpha_s$ from event-shapes in the three-jet region: extension to all energies

    hep-ph 2025-01 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

The strong coupling at the Z mass is measured as 0.1181 from event-shape distributions using three-jet power corrections, with hadron-mass scheme ambiguity as the largest uncertainty.
