We review various K-theory classification conjectures in string theory. Sen conjecture based proposals classify D-brane trajectories in backgrounds with no H flux, while Freed-Witten anomaly based proposals classify conserved RR charges and magnetic RR fluxes in topologically time-independent backgrounds. In exactly solvable CFTs a classification of well-defined boundary states implies that there are branes representing every twisted K-theory class. Some of these proposals fail to respect the self-duality of the RR fields in the democratic formulation of type II supergravity and none respect S-duality in type IIB string theory. We discuss two applications. The twisted K-theory classification has led to a conjecture for the topology of the T-dual of any configuration. In the Klebanov-Strassler geometry twisted K-theory classifies universality classes of baryonic vacua.

IIB flux non-commutativity and the global structure of field theories
The paper traces the global-structure ambiguity of 6d (2,0) theories to non-commuting RR flux boundary conditions in IIB on C^2/Γ, reproducing the known classification of 4d N=4 theories and adding new results on dual...

Generalised Symmetries and Swampland-Type Constraints from Charge Quantisation via Rational Homotopy Theory
Refining charge quantization via a homotopy type A yields swampland-like constraints ruling out noncompact gauge groups and non-nilpotent one-form Lie algebras, and requires A to be contractible for quantum gravity theories.

Holography and discrete theta angles for disconnected gauge groups
The paper derives missing torsion terms in the holographic symmetry TFT for so(2n) N=4 SYM and matches its gapped boundary conditions to the global forms and discrete theta angles of disconnected orthogonal gauge theories.

SymTFTs for $U(1)$ symmetries from descent
Symmetry descent is extended from discrete to continuous U(1) higher-form symmetries, yielding SymTFTs that match the Antinucci-Benini and Brennan-Sun constructions.
