Concordance and Discordance in Cosmology
read the original abstract
The success of present and future cosmological studies is tied to the ability to detect discrepancies in complex data sets within the framework of a cosmological model. Tensions caused by the presence of unknown systematic effects need to be isolated and corrected to increase the overall accuracy of parameter constraints, while discrepancies due to new physical phenomena need to be promptly identified. We develop a full set of estimators of internal and mutual agreement and disagreement, whose strengths complement each other. These allow to take into account the effect of prior information and compute the statistical significance of both tensions and confirmatory biases. We apply them to a wide range of state of the art cosmological probes and show that these estimators can be easily used, regardless of model and data complexity. We derive a series of results that show that discrepancies indeed arise within the standard LCDM model. Several of them exceed the probability threshold of 95% and deserve a dedicated effort to understand their origin.

KiDS-Legacy: The consistency test of the large-scale structure with Bernardeau-Nishimichi-Taruya transform
BNT k-cuts on KiDS-Legacy give S8=0.798±0.045 (theory covariance) with no nonlinear bias, while observed-data covariance produces a mild low-k preference for lower S8.

Double the axions, half the tension: multi-field early dark energy eases the Hubble tension
Two-field axion-like early dark energy reduces Hubble tension to 1.5 sigma residual and improves high-ell CMB fits over single-field models.

Bounding the Effect of HOD Assumptions on Small-Scale Clustering Constraints
The fraction of AbacusSummit cosmologies excluded at 3σ by small-scale clustering multipoles drops from 81% to 25% when moving from fixed HOD parameters to broad marginalization over the five-parameter HOD model.

Joint Constraints on Neutrinos and Dynamical Dark Energy in Minimally Modified Gravity
The w†VCDM model shows a statistically significant preference for late-time quintessence-phantom crossing dark energy, raises the Hubble constant, and satisfies neutrino mass and Neff constraints from current cosmolog...

GW250114: testing Hawking's area law and the Kerr nature of black holes
GW250114 data confirm the remnant black hole ringdown frequencies lie within 30% of Kerr predictions and that the final horizon area is larger than the sum of the progenitors' areas to high credibility.

The Status of Single Scalar Field Dark Energy
Cosmological data can constrain only a handful of EFT parameters for single-scalar dark energy; extended models show modest preference over Λ but remain underdetermined and challenged by fifth forces and screening.
