By using unitarized two-loop Chiral Perturbation Theory partial waves to describe pion-pion scattering we find that the dominant component of the lightest scalar meson does not follow the q-qbar dependence on the number of colors that, in contrast, is obeyed by the lightest vectors. The method suggests that a subdominant q-qbar component of the f_0(600) possibly originates around 1 GeV.

  1. Results on meson-meson scattering at large $N_\text{c}$

    hep-lat 2025-01 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Using lattice QCD with 3 to 6 colors and four quark flavors, the paper measures pion-pion scattering phase shifts and finds evidence consistent with a virtual bound state in one channel at three colors.

  2. The $D_{s1}(2460)$ and other open-charm $1^+$ states in relativistic chiral effective field theory

    hep-ph 2026-07 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Relativistic U(3) chiral EFT at NLO yields scattering lengths that match lattice data and identifies D_s1(2460) as an SU(3) triplet bound-state pole and D1(2430) as a triplet-sextet pole pair, none of which are conven...
