Effective Action of Vacuum: Semiclassical Approach
read the original abstract
We present brief, to great extent pedagogical review on renormalization in curved space-time and of some recent results on the derivation and better understanding of quantum corrections to the action of gravity. The paper is mainly devoted to the semiclassical approach, but we also discuss its importance for quantum gravity and string theory.

Unveiling horizons in quantum critical collapse
Semiclassical quantum corrections in critical collapse yield a finite mass gap and transition from classical Type II to quantum Type I behavior, providing a quantum enforcement of weak cosmic censorship.

Unveiling horizons in quantum critical collapse
Semiclassical one-loop analysis of solvable near-critical collapse solutions shows quantum corrections selecting a Boulware-like state and producing a growing mode that yields a finite mass gap and a transition to Typ...

Conformal anomaly in a vector field model with auxiliary scalar field
An auxiliary scalar compensator in a vector field model allows conformal formulation in D≠4 and yields independent scalar dynamics after the 4D limit.
