We interpret the PeV shower events observed by the IceCube collaboration as an s-channel enhancement of neutrino-quark scattering by a leptoquark that couples to the tau-flavor and light quarks. With a leptoquark mass of ~ 0.6 TeV and a steep 1/E^{2.3} neutrino flux, charged-current scattering gives shower events at ~ 1 PeV and neutral-current scattering gives shower events at ~ 0.5 PeV. This mechanism is also consistent with the paucity of muon-track events above 100 TeV.

  1. Are neutrinos Majorana? Fixed-target and high-energy astrophysical searches decide

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Correlated HNL discovery at SHiP and flavor ratio shifts in astrophysical neutrinos at telescopes would establish neutrinos as Majorana fermions.

  2. Zee-Burst: A New Probe of Neutrino Non-Standard Interactions at IceCube

    hep-ph 2019-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Light charged scalars in the Zee model would produce a Glashow-like resonance peak in IceCube's PeV neutrino spectrum, providing a complementary probe of neutrino non-standard interactions.
