abstract

We show that dark photons (A') with masses ~10-80 MeV can be probed in the decay $\mu^+ \to e^+ \nu_e \bar{\nu}_\mu A', A' \to e^+ e^-$, with the upcoming Mu3e experiment at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland. With an expected 10^{15} (5.5 x 10^{16}) muon decays in 2015-2016 (2018 and beyond), Mu3e has the exciting opportunity to probe a substantial fraction of currently unexplored dark photon parameter space, probing kinetic-mixing parameter, epsilon, as low as epsilon^2 ~ 10^{-7} (10^{-8}). No modifications of the existing Mu3e setup are required.

  1. ALP production in Lepton Flavour Violating meson, tau and gauge boson decays

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

ALPs with LFV couplings above the muon mass threshold can be produced in LFV meson, tau, and gauge boson decays, yielding clean eμ signatures that enable new searches at future experiments.

  2. Filling the Gap: Hunting for Vector Bosons at the MUonE Experiment with Displaced Decay Signature

    hep-ph 2025-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

MUonE's displaced-vertex search, combining muon-electron and muon-nucleus production, could probe vector-boson mediators up to ~150 MeV and close a documented parameter-space gap.

  3. Dark photons and axion-like particles at the Electron-Ion Collider in China

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Projected EicC searches could probe dark photons from about 1 MeV to 3 GeV and photon-coupled axion-like particles from 0.1 to 5 GeV, covering parameter space not yet excluded by other experiments.
