Electron-positron angular correlations were measured for the isovector magnetic dipole 17.6 MeV state ($J^\pi=1^+$, $T=1$) $\rightarrow$ ground state ($J^\pi=0^+$, $T=0$) and the isoscalar magnetic dipole 18.15 MeV ($J^\pi=1^+$, $T=0$) state $\rightarrow$ ground state transitions in $^{8}$Be. Significant deviation from the internal pair creation was observed at large angles in the angular correlation for the isoscalar transition with a confidence level of $> 5\sigma$. This observation might indicate that, in an intermediate step, a neutral isoscalar particle with a mass of 16.70$\pm0.35 $ (stat)$\pm 0.5 $ (sys) MeV$/c^2$ and $J^\pi = 1^+$ was created.

    hep-lat 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 8.0

    First fully dynamical lattice QCD yields Γ(h_c → η_c e⁺e⁻) = 5.45(19) keV (3σ above BESIII) and Γ(χ_c1 → J/ψ e⁺e⁻) = 2.869(90) keV, with continuum-extrapolated results and q² distributions.

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0

A chiral flavor-specific U(1)_X model with two Higgs doublets accommodates the ATOMKI 17 MeV anomaly via a Z' boson whose parameter space remains consistent with atomic parity violation, beam dump, meson decay, and ne...

  3. Axion-Like Electrophilic Portal for Pion Dark Matter

    hep-ph 2026-02 unverdicted novelty 5.0

A minimal electrophilic ALP portal for SIMP pion dark matter widens the allowed parameter space, making an ALP mass of order 10 MeV viable and consistent with the X17 anomaly.
