The properties of the recently discovered Higgs boson together with the absence of new physics at collider experiments allows us to speculate about consistently extending the Standard Model of particle physics all the way up to the Planck scale. In this context, the Standard Model Higgs non-minimally coupled to gravity could be responsible for the symmetry properties of the Universe at large scales and for the generation of the primordial spectrum of curvature perturbations seeding structure formation. We overview the minimalistic Higgs inflation scenario, its predictions, open issues and extensions and discuss its interplay with the possible metastability of the Standard Model vacuum.

  1. Isocurvature-Free QCD Axion Dark Matter from Inflaton-Driven Early QCD: the Necessity of Inflationary Plateaus

    astro-ph.CO 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Inflaton-gluon coupling raises the QCD scale early in inflation to eliminate axion isocurvature modes, selecting plateau inflation models for viable QCD axion dark matter.

  2. Gravitational wave constraints on the Paneitz operator

    gr-qc 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

The Paneitz operator in 4D belongs to extended mimetic gravity and is constrained by gravitational wave propagation speed.

  3. Constraining Quintessential Inflation with ACT: A Gauss-Bonnet Gateway

    astro-ph.CO 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet corrections with exponential or sech couplings shift quintessential inflation into the 1 sigma ACT region for r and ns, while tanh coupling remains disfavored.
