There is irresistible observational evidence that binary systems of compact objects with at least one neutron star are progenitors of short gamma-ray bursts, as well as a production site for r-process elements, at least when some matter is ejected by the merger and an accretion disk is formed. The recent observations of gravitational waves in conjunction with electromagnetic counterparts fuel the need for models predicting the outcome of a given merger and the properties of the associated matter outflows as a function of the initial parameters of the binary. In this manuscript, we provide updated fitting formulae that estimate the disk mass for double neutron star binaries and ejecta masses for black hole-neutron star and double neutron star binaries, fitted to the results of numerical simulations. Our proposed fitting formulae improve on existing models by aiming for analytical simplicity, by covering a larger region of parameter space, and by accounting for regions of parameter space not covered by numerical simulations but with physically manifest merger outcomes.

  1. Binary neutron stars in the next-generation era: Multi-messenger detection prospects and constraints on the equation of state, mass distribution, and cosmology

    astro-ph.HE 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

With ET (and ET+CE), mock multi-messenger BNS catalogues yield ~40–500 EM counterparts per year and, under ideal recovery, constrain R1.4 to ~0.2 km and H0 to ~1 km s−1 Mpc−1.

  2. nmma: An extended Bayesian framework for Nuclear Multimessenger Astronomy in the Era of Next-Generation Detectors

    astro-ph.IM 2026-07 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

nmma now jointly samples nuclear EoS parameters with GW and EM data via TOV emulators and Fiesta surrogates, delivering 20–60× speedups and future H0–nuclear constraints.

  3. Combining simulation-based inference and universal relations for precise and accurate neutron star science

    gr-qc 2026-01 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A machine-learning simulator trained on 1,491 simulated equations of state discovers a neutron-star radius relation R(M,f,p1), predicting radii to tens of meters with calibrated error bars.

  4. Prospect for Detection of Strongly Lensed Multi-messenger Signals of Binary Neutron Star Mergers

    astro-ph.HE 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Future CE+ET detectors may detect lensed BNS kilonovae at ~0.5/yr via pointed follow-up of known galaxy lenses, while lensed sGRBs and afterglows remain rare or undetectable with current-generation facilities.

  5. Reconstructing Critical Current Density in Josephson Junctions with Phase Non-linearity

    cond-mat.supr-con 2025-08 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

The standard Dynes-Fulton reconstruction of critical current density breaks down for junctions with nonlinear phase distributions, and the authors propose an iterative algorithm that incorporates prior knowledge to fix it.

  6. Toward a Unified Understanding of the Dense Matter Equation of State

    nucl-th 2025-11 conditional novelty 2.0 of 10

A review of three Bayesian/computational frameworks for combining heavy-ion and astrophysical constraints on the dense-matter equation of state, plus a proposed unified integration workflow.
