The paper has been prepared for the JETP issue, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of E.I. Rashba. E. Rashba stood at the origins of macroscopic quantum tunneling together with his colleagues from the Landau Institute S.V. Iordansky and A.M. Finkelshtein. They pave the way for studying macroscopic quantum tunneling in various systems. In this paper, this approach is extended to cosmological objects such as a black hole and de Sitter Universe. In particular, this allowed to calculate the entropy of Reissner-Nordstr\"om (RN) black hole with two horizons and the corresponding temperature of the thermal Hawking radiation. Several different approaches were used: the method of semiclassical tunneling for calculation of the Hawking temperature; the cotunneling mechanism -- the coherent sequence of tunneling at two horizons, each determined by the corresponding Hawking temperature; the method of singular coordinate transformations for calculations of macroscopic quantum tunneling from the RN black hole to the RN white hole; the method of the adiabatic change of the fine structure constant for the adiabatic transformation from the RN black hole to the Schwarzschild black hole; etc.

  1. Thermodynamics of black and white holes in ensemble of Planckons

    gr-qc 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A toy model counting pairs of Planckons gives integer black hole entropy, negative white hole entropy, charge-independent Reissner-Nordstrom entropy, and a quantized cosmological constant.

  2. From gravastar to central singularity

    gr-qc 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A simplified entropy balance shows a gravastar is thermodynamically unstable toward a Schwarzschild black hole with a central singularity.

  3. Entropy dynamics in gravitational collapse: From Minkowski breaking to de Sitter thermodynamics

    gr-qc 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

The sign of the Hubble parameter unifies OCK entropy release and Volovik de Sitter thermodynamics as complementary pictures of entropy flow in collapse, without a classical bridge between them.

  4. Black hole thermodynamics and topology

    gr-qc 2025-05 reject novelty 4.0 of 10

The author derives S_RN = 4πM^2 for Reissner-Nordström black holes by adding the inverse temperatures of both horizons, contradicting the standard area law.

  5. Extended Tsallis-Cirto entropy for black and white holes

    gr-qc 2025-05 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

White hole entropy is proposed to be minus the black hole entropy of the same mass, and a modified composition rule makes charged black hole entropy depend only on mass.
