In this paper we construct the classical phase space of Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity with positive cosmological constant on spatial slices with circle topology. This turns out to be somewhat more intricate than in the case of negative cosmological constant; this phase space has many singular points and is not even Hausdorff. Nonetheless, it admits a group-theoretic description which is quite amenable to quantization.

  1. An entropic puzzle in periodic dilaton gravity and DSSYK

    hep-th 2024-11 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

Gauging a momentum shift symmetry in sine dilaton gravity yields the DSSYK spectrum, makes negative-length states null, and predicts a finite entropy S=2πθ−2θ² instead of the Bekenstein-Hawking area law.

  2. Anti-scrambling and euclidean folds from observer correlators in de Sitter space

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Semiclassical gravity in de Sitter space produces four-point observer correlators whose sign of the scrambling correction is opposite to the black-hole case (anti-scrambling); the authors propose bounded-energy quantu...

  3. A de Sitter Anti-Scrambling Algebra

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

In a toy model of de Sitter quantum gravity, shockwave time advances break the KMS condition and prevent the Hartle-Hawking state from being a trace on the observer's crossed-product algebra.

  4. York time in JT gravity

    hep-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

In JT gravity, the Hartle-Hawking wavefunction satisfies a Schrodinger equation in York time with a Hermitian squeezing Hamiltonian, and York time evolution is a unitary change of the length basis rather than physical...

  5. de Sitter JT gravity from double-scaled SYK

    hep-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The upper edge of the DSSYK spectrum, in a triple scaling limit, exactly reproduces the matrix model of two-dimensional de Sitter JT gravity.

  6. Chaos and the Emergence of the Cosmological Horizon

    hep-th 2024-11 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Finite-mass observers in dS2 have non-commuting type I algebras, and their OTOC shows a Lyapunov exponent 4π/β_dS, twice the de Sitter bound.

  7. Linearization (in)stabilities and crossed products

    hep-th 2024-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Second-order Taub charge constraints are justified as linearization stability conditions in spatially closed spacetimes, while in boundary or no-isometry cases the justification is weaker and depends on interest in se...
