We derive simple analytic expressions for the (coherent and semi-coherent) phase metrics of continuous-wave sources in low-eccentricity binary systems, both for the long-segment and short- segment regimes (compared to the orbital period). The resulting expressions correct and extend previous results found in the literature. We present results of extensive Monte-Carlo studies comparing metric mismatch predictions against the measured loss of detection statistic for binary parameter offsets. The agreement is generally found to be within ~ 10%-30%. As an application of the metric template expressions, we estimate the optimal achievable sensitivity of an Einstein@Home directed search for Scorpius X-1, under the assumption of sufficiently small spin wandering. We find that such a search, using data from the upcoming advanced detectors, would be able to beat the torque- balance level [1,2] up to a frequency of ~ 500 - 600 Hz, if orbital eccentricity is well-constrained, and up to a frequency of ~ 160 - 200 Hz for more conservative assumptions about the uncertainty on orbital eccentricity.

  1. Search for continuous gravitational waves from the pulsar J0435+3233

    gr-qc 2026-07 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

A LIGO O4a search for continuous gravitational waves from millisecond pulsar J0435+3233 finds no signal, setting h0<5.8×10^-27 at 95% confidence and an ellipticity limit of 1.6×10^-8.

  2. Search for continuous gravitational wave signals from luminous dark photon superradiance clouds with LVK O3 observations

    gr-qc 2025-01 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A null search for continuous gravitational waves from 34 pulsar-like radio sources places upper limits on strain and disfavors dark photon masses around 10^-13 to 10^-12 eV with kinetic mixing 10^-9 to 10^-7, under sp...

  3. The G347.3-0.5 outlier from O3: a follow-up case study for continuous gravitational-wave candidates

    gr-qc 2026-08 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Multi-pipeline follow-up recovers the G347.3-0.5 outlier in O3 data but finds no standard persistent continuous-wave signal in O4a or O4b, disfavouring the astrophysical interpretation under the assumed model.

  4. Spotlight searches for continuous gravitational waves triggered on radiometer candidates in LIGO O4a data

    gr-qc 2026-08 accept novelty 5.0 of 10

No continuous gravitational-wave signal was found in any of the 562 radiometer-triggered candidates after vetoes and an O4b follow-up; the search reaches 95% detection efficiency for strains around 0.63 to 6.3 times 10^-25.
