The finite-temperature effective potential of the O(N) linear \sigma model is studied, with emphasis on the implications for the investigation of hot hadron dynamics. The contributions from all the ``bubble diagrams'' are fully taken into account for arbitrary N; this also allows to address some long-standing issues concerning the use of non-perturbative approaches in (finite-temperature) field theory.

Cosmological phase transitions without high-temperature expansions
A hard-soft split combined with a finite-temperature Loop-Tree Duality method computes the resummed 4d thermal effective potential without high-temperature expansions, demonstrated in a scalar-Yukawa model.

Moment of Inertia of an Interacting Bose Gas
For a weakly interacting phi^4 Bose gas, the moment of inertia density is the perpendicular radius squared times the enthalpy density, holding through order lambda^(3/2) including ring-diagram resummation.
