Large language models (LLMs) have fueled many intelligent web agents, but most existing ones perform far from satisfying in real-world web navigation tasks due to three factors: (1) the complexity of HTML text data (2) versatility of actions on webpages, and (3) task difficulty due to the open-domain nature of the web. In light of these challenges, we develop the open AutoWebGLM based on ChatGLM3-6B. AutoWebGLM can serve as a powerful automated web navigation agent that outperform GPT-4. Inspired by human browsing patterns, we first design an HTML simplification algorithm to represent webpages with vital information preserved succinctly. We then employ a hybrid human-AI method to build web browsing data for curriculum training. Finally, we bootstrap the model by reinforcement learning and rejection sampling to further facilitate webpage comprehension, browser operations, and efficient task decomposition by itself. For comprehensive evaluation, we establish a bilingual benchmark -- AutoWebBench -- for real-world web navigation tasks. We evaluate AutoWebGLM across diverse web navigation benchmarks, demonstrating its potential to tackle challenging tasks in real environments. cs.HC 2025-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Morae, a UI agent that proactively pauses at ambiguous decision points, helps blind and low-vision users complete more tasks and express preferences better than fully autonomous agents.

  2. ProactiveVA: Proactive Visual Analytics with LLM-Based UI Agent

    cs.HC 2025-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

An LLM-based UI agent monitors visual analytics interactions, detects when users struggle, infers their intent, and proactively provides context-aware guidance.

  3. Build the web for agents, not agents for the web

    cs.LG 2025-06 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The paper proposes a paradigm shift: design a standardized Agentic Web Interface for AI agents, rather than adapting agents to human-facing websites.

  4. AppAgent-Claw: CLI Is All You Need for GUI Automation

    cs.HC 2026-04 conditional novelty 4.0 of 10

A record-once, replay-many system converts demonstrated GUI workflows into reliable OpenClaw skills via layered visual localization and post-action validation, without runtime LLM inference.
