We explore the space of meromorphic amplitudes with extra constraints coming from the shape of the leading Regge trajectory. This information comes in two guises: it bounds the maximal spin of exchanged particles of a given mass; it leads to sum rules obeyed by the discontinuity of the amplitude, which express the softness of scattering at high energies. We assume that the leading Regge trajectory is linear, and we derive bounds on the low-energy Wilson coefficients using the dual and primal approaches. For the graviton-graviton scattering in four dimensions, the maximal spin constraint leads to slightly more stringent bounds than those that follow from general constraints of analyticity, crossing, and unitarity. The exponential softness at high energies is manifest in our primal approach and is not used in our implementation of the dual approach. Nevertheless, we observe the agreement between the bounds obtained from both. We conclude that high-energy superpolynomial softness does not leave an obvious imprint on the low-energy observables. We exhibit a unitary three-parameter deformation of the Veneziano amplitude for the open string case. It has a novel, exponentially soft behavior at high energies and fixed angles. We generalize the previous analysis of this regime and present a stringy version of the lower bound on high-energy, fixed-angle scattering by Cerulus and Martin.

  1. String Theory from Maximal Supersymmetry

    hep-th 2026-01 unverdicted novelty 8.0 of 10

The open string Veneziano amplitude emerges as the unique tree-level completion of N=4 super Yang-Mills when supersymmetry, factorization, and positivity are imposed.

  2. (Super)$\,$Gravity from Positivity

    hep-th 2025-07 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

Positivity of scattering amplitudes forces weakly coupled EFTs of a massive spin-3/2 particle to include gravity, and for charged states a gauged photon with g=2 and WGC-saturating charge.

  3. Analytic Boundaries of Infinite-Spin-Tower Amplitudes from Hidden Zero

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

  4. Unitary Dual-Resonance S-matrices

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Smearing Veneziano blocks over continuous Regge slopes yields local, analytic, crossing-symmetric S-matrices with full partial-wave unitarity and controllable second-sheet resonances.

  5. Gravitational Effective Theories with Maximal Supersymmetry and a Peculiar Parity

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Peculiar parity plus N=8 SUSY, tree-level factorization, and finitely many states at the mass gap uniquely select the Virasoro–Shapiro amplitude among weakly-coupled UV completions of N=8 supergravity.

  6. Bootstrapping black holes at low impact parameter

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

After subtracting the eikonal carrier, the residual SDR spectrum in six dimensions organizes into a cap-saturated low-impact band, an empty gap, and Regge-like ridges whose weak-coupling edge is the G_N=0 baseline.

  7. Strings from Almost Nothing

Ultrasoft, minimally structured scattering amplitudes are forced onto the Veneziano and Virasoro-Shapiro amplitudes of string theory.

  8. Splitting Regions and Shrinking Islands from Higher Point Constraints

    hep-th 2025-06 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

  9. Higher-Spin and Higher-Point Constraints on Stringy Amplitudes

    hep-th 2026-03 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Factorization at the second excited mass level forces the Regge intercept to the bosonic string value, and large-level multipositivity bounds forbid the simplest Gross satellite deformation of four-point superstring a...

  10. Worldsheet for Generalized Veneziano Amplitudes

    hep-th 2025-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10
